Who is affected

Economic operators (manufacturers, importers, distributors) placing products covered by delegated acts on the market - first textiles, furniture, tyres, mattresses, iron and steel, and aluminium.

Key requirements

  • Ecodesign requirements per product group: durability, repairability, recycled content, substances of concern, environmental footprint
  • Digital Product Passport with the data set out in the delegated act
  • Unique product identifier at model, batch or item level (EU registry)
  • Ban on destroying, and disclosure of discarded, unsold consumer products

When?

  1. 2026-2029

    Product-specific ESPR delegated acts are expected progressively for priority product groups; exact DPP application dates will be defined separately for each group

      ESPR enters into force - the framework for ecodesign and the Digital Product Passport

  2. 2025
    • ESPR / DPP16 Apr 2025

      ESPR working plan 2025-2030 names six priority groups: textiles (apparel), furniture, tyres, mattresses, iron and steel, and aluminium

  3. 2026
    • ESPR / DPP2026-2029

      Product-specific ESPR delegated acts are expected progressively for priority product groups; exact DPP application dates will be defined separately for each group

    • May 2026

      CEN-CENELEC publishes the European DPP standards (incl. EN 18219 identifiers, EN 18220 data carriers); six are cited in the EU Official Journal as harmonised standards

    • 20 Jul 2026

      EU DPP Registry becomes operational

    • PPWR12 Aug 2026

      PPWR applies

    • ESPR / DPP~2026
